1. Install AccuTracking on Windows Mobile phones

1.1) Use your phone bar code reader to scan the following QR codes, or open the phone web browser to go to http://mobile.accutracking.com/wm/index.html and download the phone software. If your phone has built-in GPS (Cingular hw6915, hw6925, hw6945, HTC Tilt 8925 etc.), skip the step 1.2) below and go directly to step 2.

1.2). This step is required only if you are using an external bluetooth GPS receiver.

      Configure Bluetooth GPS:

  2. Check the "Turn on Bluetooth" checkbox.

  5. Check the "Serial Port" checkbox and press Finish.
  6. Press the COM Ports tab.
  7. Press "New outgoing port..."
  8. Select your device and press Next.
  9. You will see a COM port that has been chosen for your GPS.  For example, COM0.
  10. Press Finish.
  11. On the phone, click Start > Settings > System > GPS. (If you do not see GPS listed, your phone manufacture may have hidden it. You can unhide it by modifying the registry. WARNING: modifying the registry manully may make your phone not working and has to be reset! AccuTracking is not responsible for any damages to your phone. Unless you know what you are doing, don't try to modify the phone registry.)
Here is how to unhide the GPS control panel: go to the registry and delete any "Redirect" or "Hide" keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings. (Note: this instruction has been intentionaly phrased not to go into details. If you don't understand or don't know how to "go to registry", it's strongly recommended you don't modify the registry.)
  12. Set the "GPS Program Port" to any unused COM port. For example, COM9.
  13. Press the Hardware tab.
  14. Set the Hardware Port to the port you chose in step 9. For example, COM0.
  15. Set the baud rate to the baud rate of your Bluetooth GPS (usually 4800, or 9600).
  16. Press OK. Now you have finished setting up the external Bluetooth GPS receiver.

2. Configure Cell Phone Software

2.1). Start AccuTracking on the phone by running \Program Files\AccuTracking\AccuTracking.exe. When running for the first time, the program will ask you to provide a Tracker ID. The tracker ID is obtained from the following steps:

2.2). Go to http://www.accutracking.com/signup.php from your computer (NOT your mobile device) to register. Then login into your account, on "Manage Units" page, choose an easy to remember nick name for your phone, click "Generate Tracker ID" button. An ID will be generated for you.

2.3). Start AccuTracking on the phone, select "Setup...". Move the cursor to tracker ID field, enter the tracker ID just generated, choose "Save".

2.4) (Optional) Turn on covert mode in settings.

3. Online Tracking

3.1). With the AccuTracking application running on your phone, go to an open air place and wait a few minutes until it says 'Latitude Longitude Speed Heading Altitude' and the status line shows "Sent" with a timestamp. Your position, speed and heading data has now been sent to the server and will be sent periodically.

If you see the error message on the screen reads "Cannot connect", you don't have the right data plan from your phone carrier. See the troubleshooting section below.

3.2). Log into http://www.accutracking.com and click "Tracking". You will see the locations and history of your phone.

4. (Optional) Monitor phones from Google Earth

Please see here for how to track your phone in Google Earth.

5. (Optional) Monitor phones from Microsoft MapPoint

AccuTracking enables you to monitor the phone locations from Microsoft MapPoint version 2004 or later on your PC. Please download the MapPoint Add-in from your "Account > Download" page and follow the AccuTracking MapPoint Add-in Help to install and use it.
